SUMMARY
This 5-year study in Malaysia found that a child’s baseline BMI is the strongest predictor of future obesity, more so than parental health or sociodemographic factors. While parental obesity increased the risk during adolescence, early childhood emerged as the most effective period for universal obesity prevention strategies.
